My name is Alejandro "Alex" Centeno. I completed my PhD in Management with distinction at EGADE Business School, Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City (2022). Currently, I am an Assistant Professor at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business at the American University of Beirut (AUB).

 

My doctoral dissertation titled Modeling gender: Three essays on masculinity, sexuality and display work examines aesthetic labor in the modeling industry. Drawing on myriad social theories. I explore how gender identity, sexual harassment, and ethnocentricism are organized in this industry. My dissertation was supervised by Dr. Ajnesh Prasad, who is a Professor and Research Chair of Leadership and Effective Organizations at EGADE Business School. He is currently Co-Editor-In-Chief of Management Learning and Associate Editor of Human Relations.

My first article, which considers men's roles and responsibilities In the feminist project for gender and egalitarianism was published in the journal, Gender, Work & Organization. I have a paper based on my dissertation findings under review at the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and other manuscripts at various stages of development. Furthermore, I have served as a reviewer for the journals Human Relations, Journal of Business Ethics, Management Learning and Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management.
